A message from Superintendent Dr. Glass:
Dear Jeffco families, staff, and community members,
Tuesday night was a wild ride. Jeffco voters passed the mill levy override (5A) which provides an additional $33 million for ongoing operational needs (adjusting up annually for inflation) for this current year and for years going forward. This will mean better compensation for our employees, better mental health and school safety supports, improved career/technical education opportunities, more resources for technology and curricular materials, and improved early childhood education opportunities. That is an amazing accomplishment!
Thank you to those who voted to support our staff and students, and thank you to the many community volunteers who worked tirelessly on the We Are Jeffco campaign to spread the word and help us across the finish line.
As of now, the bond question (5B) is still being counted. Every time numbers are reported, we gain ground, and this decision will likely take days more to be certified as we wait forlast-minute votes to be counted and invalidated signatures to be found and fixed. As of this morning, the difference is less than 1%, so this will literally come down to every last vote.
While we wait for the final results, please check to make sure your vote was counted by visiting https://jeffco.ballottrax.net/voter/. If you find there was a problem with your ballot, please contact Jefferson County election officials by phone at (303) 271-8111 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. At this point, every vote counts, so please go online and confirm your ballot was received and counted.
We will monitor election results until we have the final information and send out an update once we have something more concrete. On behalf of all us at Jeffco Public Schools, thank you for your support.
